A somewhat mythological creature, the storm phoenix is renowned for bringing storms wherever they go, the severity of the storm depend on their nature, size and emotions. They are generally shy creatures, mostly keeping to themselves, however will not hesitate to attack if provoked or threatened. Storm phoenixes differ from regular phoenixes where they don't combust into flames and rise from ash, but rather combust into water and rise from the puddle.
The storm phoenix is found throughout Wunderkammer, but mainly stay up north in the Alpine Ridge and Clearwater region. There have been reports that they breed on a island in the sky.
Izadore is the fist doll from my new phoenix sculpt, I wanted to do an avian species and had toyed with the idea of doing an owl, however I wanted something that was a little more fantasy. I decided to go with the phoenix as I like the look and story behind it, I changed the mythology a little from the traditional fire to water. I decided to use feathers on this doll, so I researched and found some cruelty free feathers that I could use.
I took a different approach for the claws this time, I wanted to make them poseable so I found a rubber that can be sculpted however it's quite expensive.
Izadore has a resin face that were cast from an original sculpture hand crafted by me, his claws were sculpted from a mouldable rubber. His body is made from a thick faux fur which was designed and sewn by me, he has a wire armature inside making him fully poseable, his face was painted in acrylic paints. His feathers are cruelty free sourced feathers.
Izadore is approximately 15x35cm head to tail with a wingspan of around 50cm.
