Inside Kapeau the Yellow Tribe Bear

Yellow Tribe bears are unique creatures primarily found in the yellow tribes of Wunderkammer. Tribal creatures are considered to be royalty in Wunderkammer, they have distinctive markings on the face and bodies which mean they can be easily identified. Yellow Tribe Bears generally have a majestic, calm presence, however if them or their tribe is under threat, that don't hesitate to attack.

There have been rumours about where tribal creatures come from, it is said that they come from a land beyond the sea where the regions are governed by colour coded tribes. There have been sightings of Yellow Tribe Bears in the Southern parts of Wunerkammer ... More research is being conducted about this new land.

One of my favourite dolls to make is the bear, I love the way they're always so big, bulky and cute. I've been thinking I had wanted to bring more of a tribal influence into my work and wanted to have a world that was specifically for the Tribal creatures, but more on that in another blog post...

Kapeau is the first creature from this new tribal region, I decided to go with the colour yellow as I've always seemed to unintentionally steer away from that colour. I had a vision about how I wanted this creature to look, a lightish grey coat with a specific yellow colour used for the tribal markings. The yellow eye mask was inspired by my BJD's, I have previously given a few of my BJD's an eye mask and wanted to incorporate that into my art dolls. The other tribal markings

Kapeau has a resin face and paws that were cast from an original sculpture hand crafted by me. Her body is made from thick faux fur which was designed and sewn by me, she has a wire armature inside making her fully poseable, her face was furred by hand and painted in acrylic paints.

Kapeau is approximately 30 x 18cm head to tail.

Kapeau will be up for grabs in my Etsy shop this Friday between 9-10am AEST. Alternatively you can check me out on my social media pages below. Also check out my Society6 and Redbubble shop for prints and more.
