Unlike a normal black coloured raven, the Red eyed raven is a solid white bird with haunting pupiless red eyes, the Red-eyed Raven is a feared creature throughout the lands. Legend says, the red-eyed raven is a servant of the death god and will appear when one's time is up, whoever see's this raven will die. These ravens can appear anywhere from a week to a few hours before someones death often prompting panic.
The red-eyed raven is found through the entire lands, it only appears when the death god has requested a life and then retreats back into the Darklands.
The first doll from my new raven sculpt, and a doll that I had been avoiding for a long time, mainly because the wings were a daunting thing to approach. But given I took the plunge with the phoenix doll and developed a technique, I feel it's time to make some more birds!
I've been wanting to make some creatures that had a bit more of a sinister backstory as most of my world so far is fairly innocent and cute. I had been sitting on the idea of a red-eyed raven for a while and as ravens have a connection to death in many cultures and mythology, I wanted to incorporate that into the red-eyed raven.
Ravnur has a resin face and claws that were cast from an original sculpture hand crafted by me. Her body is made from thick faux fur which was designed and sewn by me, she has a wire armature inside making her fully poseable, her face was furred by hand and painted in acrylic paints.
Ravnur is approximately 30 x 18cm head to tail.
