An Introduction to Nanclendara

I'd like to introduce you to the world where my creatures come from, Nanclendara.

Nanclendara is only a recent development and this post is only the tip of the iceberg. For three years I've been making dolls, not belonging to a world, but all with their own little back story. It's only since I have been writing these 'Inside blah blah' blog posts has this world really introduced itself.

Nanclendara is also the world for my Ball Jointed Dolls. For those of you who are unfamiliar with BJDs, here's a quick rundown; they are resin dolls which have a ball and socket joint and strung together with elastic. You can customise them whichever way you like with wigs, eyes, clothing etc.

I will be going into detail for each BJD character in separate blog posts so stay tuned, but for now I'll be giving a brief rundown of this world, I'll be going into detail of each region in their own separate posts too.

There are eight regions which make up Nanclendara, each with their own element and characteristics.

Let’s start with:

TALL TREES

This is the main and largest town; it mostly consists of forest, has the largest basin and is home to Earth Crafters. The main element in Tall Trees is Earth, but some crafters are able to control Wood.

There are seven towns in Tall Trees.

ALPINE RIDGE

A relatively small region, it's mostly very mountainous and is home to the Air Crafters who are able to control their breathing in higher altitudes.

There are five towns in Alpine Ridge.

CLEARWATER

Clearwater is known to have some of the most pure and mineral rich waters in all of Nanclendara. The northern part of Clearwater is somewhat mountainous and is home to the Water Crafters.

There are five towns in Clearwater.

VALLEY OF FIRE

The hottest and most volcano dense place in Nanclendara, Valley of Fire has been split in two, one side being noble and the other a little corrupt. Home to the Fire Crafters.

There are six towns in Valley of Fire.

CENTRAL HIGHLANDS

Central Highlands is the market capital, many rare and speciality items can be found here. Not home to any specific crafters, but mainly merchants, travellers, reiki masters, medical, apothecary etc.

There are five towns in the Central Highlands.

CROOKED TRAWL

Crooked Trawl is the black market capital, mainly specialising in illegal items such as animal parts, poisons, weapons and ammunition etc. Many don't travel down to this region and is home to the criminal.

There are six regions in Crooked Trawl.

ISLE OF MISSING SOULS

Shrouded in mist all year round, Isle of Missing Souls is a city that has lost its soul, a place for spirits and lost souls to go.

There are no towns in the Isle of missing Souls.

KALATHA

Kalatha is the heart of Wunderkammer, an incredibly dense forest where only the purest of spirits reside within. Home to the notorious Red Wolf and the Forest Mother, it is constantly under threat by poachers.

There are five regions in Kalatha.
